EmpowerHer: Artivism for Change
Empower Her: Activism for Change was an arts-based youth initiative funded by the New Orleans Youth Alliance. Led by college students, the program guided participants in creating a mural focused on empowerment, the CROWN Act, and the history of hair discrimination. While painting, youth engaged in open conversations with a PhD-level counselor, and PhD African American history professors also volunteered their time—creating space for reflection, learning, and healing alongside creative expression.
